Once purchased, you can avoid the lines and print your ticket at home! If preferred, you can also download the SIFF Ticket App and have the cinema staff scan your purchased ticket from your phone. This year, there will be 16 venues to host the festival. A few of these venues include House Studios, Lincoln Square, Ark Lodge Cinemas, Triple Door and Nordic Heritage Museum.

To celebrate and honor films, the Seattle International Film Festival presents tributes, galas, live music and film parties. To best plan your visit, you can view a complete list of the special events and details.

Offering more than just films and special events, the Seattle International Film Festival is proud to provide education and knowledge for the local community. The Color Run

The Color Run

The Color Run, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is coming back to Seattle this Sunday, May 13th. The Color Run was founded in 2011 with a mission to bring individuals together to create happy and fun memories, with less focus and worry on the running time. It has quickly become one of the largest running series in the world with over 6 million participants worldwide.

The vibrant and lively run is a five-kilometer and untimed event. At each kilometer, the runners will be doused from head to toe in different colors. There are only two things the participants must worry about – wearing white at the starting line and finish wearing an assortment of colors! Once participants have completed the race, they are welcome to continue the fun at the “Finish Festival”. This post-5k party will include music, dancing and more color throws! To peek into what the run looks like, you can view the colorful photo gallery here.

The Color Run proudly celebrates health, happiness, individuality and giving back. This event caters to all fitness levels, ages and backgrounds. Though this event is all about fun, they hope to encourage healthy and active lifestyles for all individuals. As a for-profit event management company, The Color Run partners with a wide variety of charities in order to highlight their work. They have raised donations for more than 80 local and national charities and have donated more than $5 million.

It is suggested to pick up your packet on Saturday, May 12th at the Check-In Party. You will also have the opportunity to shop at The Color Run Store and meet other runners. If you can’t make the pre-party, not a problem! On the day of, runners can check-in at the Seattle Center Pavilion beginning at 8:00 AM, with waves going until 8:45 AM. The starting line is a party itself with music, dancing, stretching and giveaways. If you are looking to jump start the morning, you can come early for a pre-race yoga warm-up with CorePower Yoga at 7:00 AM.

Though two of the participant kits are sold out, there are two left to register for online, today! To best plan your day, you can view the event guide for details including parking, directions and additional information. You won’t want to miss the fun at this colorful event!

2018 Windermere Cup

2018 Windermere Cup

This may be our favorite event of the year, the 32nd Annual Windermere Cup! Windermere Real Estate and the University of Washington are proud to host the women’s crew from the Dutch National Rowing Team and the men’s crew from Oxford Brookes University and the University of British Columbia as the challengers this weekend. The Windermere Cup Regatta will kick off Seattle’s Opening Day of Boating Season and will be followed by the Seattle Yacht Club’s Opening Day Boat Parade.

The annual event is known to be one of the premier regattas in the sport of rowing. Since 1970, the Opening Day Regatta has been tradition of the opening of boating season, with the women’s intercollegiate races added to the schedule in 1976. Beginning in 1987, Windermere Real Estate has sponsored the feature races, which include elite national and international crews. With thousands of fans coming in recent years, the Opening day races and activities have become one of the most exciting sporting events in the region.

There will be a total of 23 races this weekend, featuring athletes ages 14-70. Viewers are welcome to join an award ceremony and a presentation of the Windermere Cup Trophy near the finish line after the races, approximately at 12:30 PM. To best plan your day, you can view the complete schedule of events. Admission to the event is free and viewing will be available on the shores of the Montlake Cut.

With another tradition beginning, this will be the third year for The Battle of the Brave. The Seattle Fire department will compete against the Seattle Police Department in a 1,000-meter race through the Montlake Cut. Red and blue wrist bands and flags will be passed out to viewers on the shore. Choose your color to show your support for your favorite professionals who serve the local area. If your color wins, you can be one of the first 100 people to show your winning band and take home a prize.

If you are unable to make the races this weekend but would like to show your support, you can shop apparel online. For parking and transportation information, please visit here. We hope to see you this weekend!

International Children’s Friendship Festival

International Children’s Friendship Festival

An annual cultural event, The International Children’s Friendship Festival will be held on April 14th and 15th at the Seattle Center, Fisher Pavilion. Since 2010, this event recognizes children and youth all over the world. The festival is organized by the Turkish American Cultural Association of Washington.

The parliament that governs Turkey was formed on April 23rd 1920, which is known as the birth of Modern Turkey. With the belief that the future of a new nation was only possible through investing in its children, founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk declared April 23rd to be celebrated as both National Sovereignty Day and Children’s Day.

At this event, you will find children representing various nationalities through music, dancing and art. Aside from stage performances, the festival will feature activities for arts, crafts and presentations. Over the years, the festival has had the opportunity to host guest performers from Republic of Seychelles, Mongolia and Mexico. The festival is proud to give the children the opportunity to learn about different backgrounds and develop friendships with one another. Though the event is volunteer-run, it has become well-known and sees an increasing number of new children every year. Whether you are a participant or just joining in on the celebration, you will feel the positive energy from the Seattle community at the International Children’s Friendship Festival. The event is free and open to the public.

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

It’s that time of the year, the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is here! Known as a destination event for the Pacific Northwest, this festival will be held until April 30th.

In 1984, The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival was officially inaugurated by the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce. It was recognized by the Chamber directors that thousands of people from all over were coming to visit the town to view the tulips. To enhance the visitor’s trip, events and activities were included in the seasonal festival. It was not until 1994 that the Tulip Festival became an entity of its own. Over time, the festival gradually became a longer event starting with three days, to ten days and so on, it has now been a 30-day festival for the past several years.

The Skagit Valley Festival celebrates the millions of blooming tulips scattered throughout the Skagit Valley. The tulip fields are the harvests of Tulip Town and Roozen Gaarde. Aside from showcasing the tulips, the Skagit Valley is proud to present their growers, local attractions and agriculture. Through the month of April, you will find a wide range of events including the Anacortes Quilt Walk, Downtown Mount Vernon Street Fair, Tulip Country Bike Tours and the Kiwanis Salmon Barbecue. To best plan your trip, you can view the complete event schedule. Though the suggested way to visit the festival is by motorized vehicle, you can travel the tulip fields by foot or bicycle, you will just want to prepare for the weather conditions! As another option, there are several guided tours offered that will allow you to relax and take photographs as you please.

While visiting, you may want to enjoy dining at the local eateries such as La Conner Seafood & Prime Rib House, Farmhouse Restaurant, C-Square and Third Street Café or Chuckanut Manor Seafood and Grill. You also won’t be leaving the festival empty handed! There will be a wide variety of tulip merchandise including jewelry, clothing, stationery, and home décor items!

Whether you visit for a day or a longer stay, you will be sure to find events and activities for the whole family, all while enjoying Mother Nature’s beauty!
