Kirkland’s SummerFest this Weekend: August 12th & 13th

Along Lake Washington waters, Kirkland it hosting their annual summer festival: Kirkland’s SummerFest. This vibrant waterfront attraction boasts the beauty and natural serenity of Kirkland’s downtown lifestyle. This charming, lakeside area offers tons of recreation (even without the awe-inspiring festival!)

As an Eastside, community tradition, volunteers established this event, with the help of Kirkland’s Downtown Association and since 2011, they’re vision of summer connect, celebration, and art has entertained families across the Seattle Region.

WHAT TO BRING? Your fun spirit!

A celebration of music, the arts, and family, their weekend festival is bursting with life and entertainment. Their main stage music schedule includes disco, funk, country, bluegrass, soul, rock & roll, acoustic, and event some hair/glam metal!

Art in the Park 2017 calls the artist in you! Don’t think you have one in you? Why not give it a go anyways. Their Drop-in Life Drawing uses live costumed models, emulating some of our favorite, fictional characters, including Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, or a Mermaid! Pop in and see who’s there!

Local artists, including Dana Nunnelly, will help you with supplies, technique, and any assistance you may require!

Want to try your hand (or your child’s hand) at the 2017 Young Artists Exhibition? Though it’s too late to submit, you can stop by and see what others created. This years theme is “Fantastic Creatures”. Other artists will be there in conjunction with the Kirkland Art Walk.

Tons of family-friendly entertainment is provided, including tons of bouncy houses, games, and other outdoor activities.

Work up an appetite? Try any of the wonderful food venders scheduled for the celebration, including Chopstix, Athena’s Gyros, Buns on Wheels, Eqyptian Coffee & Desserts, HP Smokehouse, Moe’s Falafel, the Ultimate Melt, or Simply Kettle. They’ve also coordinated an adult garden with views of their mainstage.
