Mercer Island Farmer’s Market: Sunday August 30, 2015

photo by Frances Gaul This Sunday’s MIFM theme revolves around Grown By Nature. You are encouraged to explore how you can incorporate 5 fruits/ vegetables a day into your meals as you walk around the Mercer Island Farmers Market. The local farmers and food vendors have such great ideas, and their produce is so delicious. If you need some way to track your progress, here’s a handy chart where you can track your daily servings of fruits and veggies, along with 30+ minutes of exercise daily, for a week. Check out the tomato-corn salsa recipe from Aljoya’s gourmet chef, Jonathan Tilleron, on the MIFM recipe page for one delicious way to eat more vegetables daily.

Here’s the scoop on what else is going on at this weekend’s market day:

Live Music: Jazz Connection will be on hand to play Jazz Standards, Blues and Original Compositions.

Children’s Table With Judy: Stop by to create your own flower prints. You can paint something in the colors of the market, using flowers for imprinting. So fun!

Master Gardeners: Members of Master Gardeners Foundation of King County will be on site to answer questions. Stop by their booth to learn more about gardening best practices and find answers to those tricky garden problems you have been dealing with.

Representatives of Sound Transit will be at MIFM sharing the latest news regarding the East Link Light Rail Extension Project.
