“15 Ways to Make Your Neighborhood Better”

neighborhood-homesAs winter slowly creeps up on all of us, it’s the perfect time to take advantage of the last sunny fall days and get out of the house and into the community. Good relationships with your neighbors make your house feel even more like a home because you are surrounded by friends. Below are a couple ideas from Houzz.com on how to build a sense of community, the full article can be found here. Enjoy!

#3 Build a Tool Library– Let’s be realistic. Not everyone in your neighborhood needs a chainsaw. Set up a physical tool library in a space within your community, or an online  directory of who-owns-what. That way the whole community saves money and storage space on tools that rarely would be used otherwise.

#7 Set up an Emergency Preparedness Network– The Seattle area is pretty tame when it comes to large storms, but every once in awhile we get a big one. Set up a common meeting space for the members of your community just in case something happens. Create a supplies list and volunteer for positions in case of emergency.
